Dear all,
The Australian Uyghur Association (AUA) will hold a peaceful demonstration in collaboration with East Turkestan Australian Association and the Victoria Uyghur Association in front of the Chinese Consulate in Melbourne from 11:00am to 13:00 pm on 5 July 2012 in commemoration of the third anniversary of the Urumqi massacre, which took place on July 5, 2009. On that tragic day, hundreds of unarmed Uyghurs who hold a peaceful demonstration were killed and thousands were arrested by fully-armed Chinese security forces. The repression is continuing and the Uyghurs are living in a culture of deep fear.
The Australian Uyghur Association invites you to join us in condemning the Chinese government’s violent suppression of peaceful protestors in Urumqi on July 5, 2009. The demonstration also aims to draw the attention of the Australians to this tragic event and to raise public awareness of the deterioration of the living conditions of the Uyghurs in East Turkestan.
July 5 is the day not to forget and to speak out for the human rights of Uyghurs!
Below is the information about the demonstration:
